Newport residents looking for something different to do close to home can now catch the work of 15 contemporary Australian artists at Redcliffe Art Gallery, just a short trip away.
City of Moreton Bay Galleries’ annual 15 Artists exhibition has returned for 2026, bringing together recent works spanning painting, sculpture, installation, video and textiles.
Running from 15 August to 7 November, the exhibition explores themes including belonging, resilience, memory, transformation and the changing relationship between people, place and technology.
For Newport locals, the exhibition offers an easy cultural outing without having to travel far from the peninsula.
Fifteen artists, one $20,000 prize
The exhibition is also an acquisitive prize exhibition, with one participating artist set to receive $20,000 at a special event on 29 August.
The winning artwork will then be acquired for the City of Moreton Bay Art Collection, becoming part of the public collection for future residents and visitors to experience.
Mayor Peter Flannery said the exhibition was an important part of the City’s cultural calendar and helped give the community access to contemporary Australian art.
“15 Artists provides our community with access to outstanding contemporary Australian art and the opportunity to engage with the ideas, stories and perspectives shaping our cultural landscape,” Mayor Flannery said.
He said the acquisitive prize also helped grow the City’s permanent collection while recognising artistic excellence.

Among the featured works are Dean Ansell’s Ḡatu Ḡatu and Norton Fredericks’ NO AI: Weaving.
Together, the artists offer a broad look at contemporary Australian practice, with works responding to social, cultural and environmental ideas from a range of perspectives.
An arts stop close to Newport
With Redcliffe Art Gallery only a short distance from Newport, the exhibition adds another option for locals planning a nearby weekend outing.
Rather than travelling into Brisbane for a major gallery experience, Newport residents can see work from artists across Australia right here on the Redcliffe Peninsula.
